Archive for September, 2009

Okay, maybe I am jumping the gun a little bit here because I still have some November weddings coming up before I go on maternity leave.  This morning I was thinking about all the awesome moments that have been captured this year, and how each couple has their own story, which makes each wedding unique.  I feel very honored to be a part of so many special days!

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite wedding moments from 2009 (in no particular order).

1. Justin and Jenny’s joyful ceremony

I can’t tell you how much laughter happened during this ceremony.  Everyone was just so happy for these two!  They are absolutely perfect for one another.  I don’t think anyone was happier than Justin and Jenny though.  Jenny literally giggled throughout the entire ceremony.

2. Jen and Matt’s barbie game

You know your photographing a fun couple when they play a newlywed style game in the middle of the reception!  Jen and Matt stood back to back while Matt’s parents read personality traits to the couple.  Then they had to decide who they thought best represented the personality trait by holding up either Barbie or Ken.  The results were hilarious.

3. Pia and Ben’s amazingly fun reception

I am not exaggerating when I tell you that I truly think EVERYONE had a great time at Pia and Ben’s reception.  There was so much dancing and celebrating going on all night.  I love the photo above because it shows how much fun the bride and groom were having at their wedding.

5. Melinda and Brian’s first look

Melinda and Brian were the first couple I had who decided to see each other before the wedding.  It was such a special moment.  I even scooted out for a few minutes after I got some shots and they had some true alone time together before the ceremony.

5. Brittney’s pre-ceremony dance party

I believe this picture is worth 1000 words.  I just love a bridal party who can relax before the ceremony!  It really set the stage for a fun, stress-free wedding.

6. Jen and Chad’s vows

First of all I want to say that Jen read her vows off her iPhone.  Not only is that funny, but it so perfectly fit her personality.  Both sets of vows were very special and heart felt and I think there were a lot of tears shed during that ceremony!

7. Amanda’s run-away bouquet
DSC_3700_1
You see that speck in the right-hand corner of this picture?  No, it’s not a sky-diver, it’s a wedding bouquet!  The wind hit it just right and sent it so far in the air, I didn’t know if anyone would be able to retrieve it.  Thankfully it landed in the bushes nearby, but I think it may have been the most entertaining bouquet toss I’ve seen!

I can’t wait to see what other fun moments I get to experience as a photographer.  Have I mentioned lately that I love my job?

Yesterday morning I traveled to the Dallas Arboretum for this maternity session.  I am so glad we met up early because it was HOT by the time our session was over.  It was great to see all the fall decor out at the Arboretum and all the kids running around playing in the pumpkin patch.

I had a great afternoon with this family.  They have an awesome yard (yep, that’s their font yard!) for pictures.

Thanks for having me over and I hope you enjoy your sneak peek!

I haven’t mentioned yet on my blog that I am expecting baby #2 in January!  We had our “big” ultrasound this Tuesday, and we decided to do something fun to reveal the gender of our new little one.

Our doctor wrote the gender of the baby on a small piece of paper and sealed it in an envelope.  We took the envelope to an awesome baker - Tracy’s Cakes in Lewisville – and she baked us a cake with blue filling to indicate that the baby is a boy.  If it had been a girl, she would have used pink filling.

We invited our family over that night (we even had a web-cam set up for family who don’t live in the area) and cut into the cake to discover the baby’s gender!  It was so fun for everyone to find out together!

Here are a few pictures from the event:
